Lipomas
Lipomas that are causing you pain or discomfort can be removed quickly. Often in our office under local anesthesia.
Treatment Options
A lipoma is a benign or noncancerous growth of fatty tissue that develops beneath the skin. A lipoma can develop on any part of the body but most commonly are seen on the neck, shoulders, back, abdomen, arms and thighs. These very common growths or tumors are soft and can easily be moved.
Removing the Lipoma
Some smaller lipomas can be excised, or removed, in the office under local anesthesia. For larger lipomas or those located in highly sensitive areas, an outpatient surgical setting may be recommended.
Recovery
The procedures are quick and your incision will be closed using stitches. The area my be sore for a few days and you will need to keep it covered with a bandage.
You’ll receive a follow up visit 1-2 weeks after the procedure to remove the stitches.
